Feminism

Don’t wear dark shades
You’ll look hideous
If it smears
” she said
I smiled and consented
Because I knew
She is disquietened about
my smutched mascaras
than my pale lips.
I took a step ahead

Beta, tack your duppatas
else it might get snapped by thorns”
I grinned and took a step ahead
Because I knew
he cannot blame zephyr or thorn
for rupturing me apart
whereas I conceal
some snapped parts
without his knowledge.

Girls should be audacious
and gritty, just like my dee

He gave me a Hifi
as I took my last step.
Come home before it gets dark” he added.

They are concerned about
the pointed heels
and salacious cleavages
Incognizant
Even the diapers are thrown
with stain these days.

Feminism, they talk
and allow me walk alone,
by placing their palm
for the every step I take
Oblivious that
the birds are blessed with wings to fly.

  1. Strong take on feminism. Sometimes I think women themselves settle for less. Perhaps, society forces them to. Ultimately a woman has to steer her own ship.

    1. Yes, I agree.
They settle by making themselves believe that they deserve it.

  2. I like both the strength and depth of what you have written. I also think on reflection that I was not so different from some of those males fifty years ago πŸ™‚

Having such thoughts 50 years ago is no amazing,
Even now people are like this, just because of the society.
      Hope things will change soon.
